Why use aluminium?

Aluminium is a popular material for construction due to its flexibility, strength, light weight, durability, and low maintenance. It is widely used due to its easy-to-handle nature as it can be curved, cut or extruded to almost any shape, making it great for design. In addition, its anti-corrosion properties make it one of the longest lasting metals. It can also be finished in a range of colours, offering you almost unlimited usage possibilities.

QSM Fabrication employs aluminium fabricators that are well respected in the field. Whether it’s one of our off-the-shelf products, a custom aluminium fabrication piece designed for your home or construction project, we apply the same single-minded determination to deliver high-quality products and services that you can rely on.

You can rest assured that you will be happy with the quality and durability of the final product. If not, contact us and we will do everything we can to correct any problems.

Fabrication processes

  • Cutting
This is done by sawing, shearing, or chiseling (with manual and powered variants); torching with hand-held oxy-fuel or plasma torches; and via numerical control (CNC) cutters (using a laser, mill bits, torch, or water jet).
  • Bending
The process of aluminium bending uses a CNC press brakes with correctly selected tooling to suit the grade, temper and thickness of the Aluminium. QSM has a large variety of Press Break tooling to service our customer’s needs across a variety of industries.
  • Assembling
The aluminium welding process is vastly different to that of carbon steel. Aluminium is much hard to fuse together and therefore high temperatures are required prior and during the welding process. It can be done with same process as carbon steel (TIG or MIG), however a High Frequency, Alternate Current must be selected for TIG welding, to allow much higher arc pool temperatures to allow the Filler Wire to penetrate the parent metal.

As a respected aluminium fabricator, we know the properties of this metal and hold a large range of Welding Procedure Specifications to suit a variety of Grades and positions. Aluminium products have proven themselves as real long-life products and have been known to last more than 100 years. In addition, when an aluminium product reaches the end of its lifespan, the metal is sustainably recyclable.
